四六级考前阅读突破第三讲：文章的标题

这一讲我们来学习对文章标题的选择
在四级考试中,我们有时会遇到要我们选择标题的问题,例如:
1. Which of the following is the best title for this passage?
2. The title of this passage would be ______.
3. The title that best expresses the main idea is ______.
4. What is the title of the passage?
5. Which of the following is the most appropriate title for the passage?
6. The passage could be entitled ______.

 
在回答这类问题时,我们要明确,标题就好比一篇文章的 "路标", 它为文章限定了一个范围,更指引了一个方向. 有一个很重要的技巧可以利用,那就是---标题总是和主题息息相关,找到了主题,也就明确了标题,所以我们可以分两步走:一 先找主题句, 二 选句中的关键词作为标题. 同时我们还要牢记,标题不仅表明主题,还要对全文有指向性的暗示.下面我们用这个技巧来看一篇文章.

Music is used in stores to encourage you to buy more. It is used in fast food eating places to make you eat faster and get out. In banks, music is piped in to give you a feeling of cheerfulness and confidence. Indeed,
 music is used in many ways to affect people's feelings and actions. It is used in factories to speed up the workers and increase the amount of work produced. It is used in hospitals to make the sick feel better. And,
 at sports events, music is used to make players try harder.
第一步,找出文章的主题句, 很显然就是第一句话.
第二步, 仔细分析一下,用什么样的标题合适呢?比如,我给出两个选择, 1.Music; 2.The Role of Music 哪一个更合适呢? 这里要注意,选择标题时要选择最贴切的,也就是表述的更准确的.第一个答案Music不是不可以,但太笼统,没有第二个准确.再看一篇文章

Honeybees cannot live alone. Their body structure and instincts equipt them for life in a colony or community, where they have a complex social organization and the various duties are divided among the individual
according to physical fitness and age. An individual worker bee cannot reproduce itself. while it may continue to live if forcibly isolated from its mates, it fails to care for itself adequately, and soon dies. Efficiency, if not necessity, demands that the work of the colony be divided, and such labor tends to enhance the need to maintain the colony. The physical structure or the honeybee is further suited for the defense of the entire colony rather than for its own defense. The bee's barbed sting is used only once and is made more effective by the fact that t is left behind in the victim. With the loss of the sting, however, the bee dies. This kind of defensive weapon is not of service to the individual, but to the community.

这篇文章的最大干扰项是答案B.蜜蜂的结构,因为在文章中也提到了,但仔细分析一下,文章主要讲的还是蜜蜂的集群生活,所以应改选A.
