Looking Forward to the Twenty-first Century
    Everybody is longing for the arrival of the twenty first century, because the new century promises exciting new developments in science and technology, which will certainly benefit human beings enormously.
    At that time, communications will go one big step forward, making people＇s life even more convenient. More progress will be made in medicine, enabling people to live a longer and happy life. Possible solutions to all kinds of pollution will be worked out, making our environment clean and beautiful. The development in computer technology will allow more people to have access to the Internet... 
    However, the new science and technology will also bring some problems. People may be more dependent on various kinds of machines, which will be harmful to their physical and mental abilities. Besides, more people will be faced with the problem of unemployment, which will resulted from the wide use of machines. In spite of this, I am still confident and optimistic about the future. Now, I have to study cleverly so as to prepare myself for the oncoming of the new century.
